Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

The Journal of IUS Kajian Hukum dan Keadilan is an open-access and peer-reviewed journal that aims to offer an international academic platform. We are interested in topics related to Law and Justice over the world. Articles submitted might cover topical contemporary legal issues including but not limited to the Health, Business and Investment, Tourism, Governance, Crimes and Criminal Justice System, Environment, Family and Indigenous People aspects.

Authors are invited to submit manuscripts that fall within the scope of the Journal IUS Law and Justice Studies. Please read the information on the peer-review process. The articles published in Journal IUS should be written in English, which are going through a double-blind peer-review process. Hence, the decision on whether the scientific article is accepted or not, will be the Editorial Boards right based on the peer reviewer's recommendation.

Important Note: If English is not your first language, we  appreciate if the manuscript has passed the proofreading process by a native or a trusted proofreading institution.

Review Policy

Editor in Chief will assign the manuscript to Managing Editor for further handling. The Managing Editor will request at least two scientists to review the research article manuscript. All manuscripts are subject to double-blind peer review, both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process to meet standards of academic excellence.

Publication Frequency

Jurnal IUS Kajian Hukum dan Keadilan (Journal IUS Law and Justice Studies is published three times a year in April, August, and December.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Paper Format

  • The word limit for the submission is 6000-10000 (20-25 pages) words (including footnotes and abstract).
  • The sequence of manuscripts following: Title; Abstract; Keywords; Introduction; Analysis and Discussion; Conclusion; and References.
  • Referencing style uses the Chicago Manual of Style (Full Note).

Archiving Policy

To ensure the permanency of all publications, Journal IUS utilizes  LOCKSS archiving systems to create permanent archives for preservation and restoration.

Main Headings of Manuscripts

An article may be divided into sections, subsections, and sub-subsections, using Arabic numerals. Only the initial word and proper names should be capitalized. Following main headings, sub-headings and sub-sub headings should be numbered in the manuscript with the following example:

  • Title

The title of articles are written in Times New Roman Bold (14 pt) and preferably not more than 15 words.

  • Abstract

The abstract is written in English. Abstract consists of 150-250 words. The Abstract title is written using bold. The abstract should be clear and descriptive. and should provide a brief overview of the problem studied. Abstract includes the aim of the study, research methods, and research novelty. Abstract may also include the impact of the study (optional). It shall not mention the name of the regulation, written in one paragraph.

  • Keywords

3-5 keywords or key phrases, not mentioning the name of an institution, Law and Regulation, location, arranged alphabetically, separated by a semicolon (;).

1. INTRODUCTION

The introduction should be clear and provide the issue to be discussed in the manuscript. At the end of the paragraph, the author/s should end with a comment on the significance concerning identification of the issue and the objective of the research. The introduction must also include originality/state of the art of former research or publication which resembles the proposed article or to prove as a basis of the researchs novelty and important contribution. The article which is a research report shall contain a research method that is written as a part of the introduction. The research method is written descriptively which covers: the research type, approaching method, source of legal material or data, and analysis method of legal material or data analysis. Articles that contain conceptual ideas do not require a research method.

2. ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION

This section is the most important section of your article. Contains the results of the object of study and should be clear and concise. Discussion is presented descriptively, analytically, and critically. The description shall be in accordance with legal issues or arrangement of analyzed legal issues.

3. CONCLUSION

The conclusion contains a description that should answer the objectives of the research. Do not repeat the Abstract or simply describe the results of the research. Give a clear explanation regarding the possible application and/or suggestions related to the research findings.

REFERENCES

For submissions to issues published from December 2022 onwards, the Journal IUS Kajian Hukum dan Keadilan uses the Chicago Manual of Style (Full Note) in the References at the end of the manuscript. Cite only items that you have read and written in footnotes. Please use Reference Manager Applications like EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, etc. All publications cited in the text should be included in the References section and arranged alphabetically. The figures should be readable and at least have a resolution of 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch) for good printing quality.

Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism and self-plagiarism are not allowed. The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted. Editorial Team checks the manuscript by using the Turnitin app. If it is found plagiarism indication (more than 25%), the board will reject the manuscript immediately.

Guideline for Online Submission

Author should first register as Author and/or is offered as Reviewer through the following address: https://jurnalius.ac.id/jurnal/index.php/ojs/user/register

Author should fulfil the form as detail as possible where the star marked form must be entered. After all form textbox was filled, Author clicks on Register button to proceed the registration. Therefore, Author is brought to online author submission interface where Author should click on New Submission. In the Start a New Submission section, click on Click Here: to go to step one of the five-step submission process. The following are five steps in online submission process:

  1. Step 1 - Starting the Submission: Select the appropriate section of journal, i.e. Original Research Articles or Review Article. Thus, author must check-mark on the submission checklists.
  2. Step 2 “ Uploading the Submission: To upload a manuscript to this journal, click Browse on the Upload submission file item and choose the manuscript document file to be submitted, then click Upload button. 
  3. Step 3 “ Entering Submissions Metadata: In this step, detail authors metadata should be entered including marked corresponding author. After that, manuscript title and abstract must be uploaded by copying the text and paste in the textbox including keywords.
  4. Step 4 “ Uploading Supplementary Files: Supplementary file should be uploaded including Covering/Submission Letter, the proofread evidence, and Signed Copyright Transfer Agreement Form. Therefore, click on Browse button, choose the files, and then click on Upload button.
  5. Step 5 “ Confirming the Submission:  Author should final check the uploaded manuscript documents in this step. To submit the manuscript to Jurnal IUS Kajian Hukum dan Keadilan, click Finish Submission button after the documents is true. The corresponding author or the principal contact will receive an acknowledgement by email and will be able to view the submissions progress through the editorial process by logging in to the journal web address site.

After this submission, Authors who submit the manuscript will get a confirmation email about the submission. Therefore, Authors are able to track their submission status at any time by logging in to the online submission interface. The submission tracking includes the status of manuscript review and editorial process.
